The history of Farview Farm
How an old dairy barn became The Maine Wedding Barn
Farview Farm’s story began long before ours. 147 heifers once grazed in the surrounding fields and returned to be milked on the lower level of the barn, directly beneath what is now the is now your reception area. The farmhouse, barn and land were all part of the daily rhythm of a working Maine dairy farm.
Our chapter began in 2012, when we began restoring the upper hayloft. We preserved its original scale, timber and agricultural character while gradually adding the lighting, facilities and thoughtful details that weddings require. The work took time, and the venue continued to develop as we learned how each part of the property could contribute to the day.
Since then, more than 250 weddings and events have filled the barn with new stories. We have watched couples make their entrance, families reconnect and dance floors remain busy much later than anyone expected. Seeing the old dairy barn become part of so many important days has made the years of work more than worthwhile.

Shaped by experience
Every wedding has taught us something. Over the years, we have improved how guests arrive, how vendors access the barn, how the different spaces connect and how quickly plans need to change when Maine weather takes an unexpected turn.
That experience shapes the way we look after couples today. We prepare carefully, pay attention to what is happening around us and step in when something needs handling. Much of our work takes place quietly in the background, which is exactly where it should be while you are enjoying the day.
The farm is still part of the story
The animals and much of the original farm equipment are gone, but traces of that history remain throughout the barn and its surroundings. Old photographs, antiques, original equipment and carefully preserved details offer reminders of the people and work that shaped the property.
Outside, more than 100 acres of fields, gardens and woodland still surround the barn. We continue to care for the restored spaces and the wider property, bringing together its farming history and the beautifully maintained setting couples experience today.
Come and see it for yourself
A private tour is a chance to see the barn and grounds, but it is also a chance for us to get to know one another. We can hear what you are planning, answer your questions and show you how the spaces might work for your wedding.
We would love to welcome you and share the place that has become such an important part of our lives.
